Impaired Vision Services

Vision impairments and blindness rank third among physical disabilities that restrict activities for the elderly. A person who loses significant sight late in life may not be aware of the support that is available in the form of technology, training or social services. Health Care options' Impaired Vision Program provides rehabilitation to help people with:

  • Macular Degeneration

  • Glaucoma

  • Cataracts

  • Diabetic Retinopathy

  • Retinitis Pigmentosa

  • and other visual disorders

to become more independent and to live a more satisfying life. Anyone whose vision is not good enough to accomplish his or her desired life activities will benefit from the Impaired Vision Program.

  • Reading and writing

  • Safety in the home

  • Orientation to environment

  • Safe mobility in the home and community

  • Meal planning and preparation

  • Adaptive abilities and more...

What is Low Vision?

Low vision is diminished eyesight that cannot be improved by corrective lenses, medical treatment or surgery. Low vision means that even with regular glasses, contact lenses, medicine, or surgery, people find everyday tasks difficult to do. Reading the mail, shopping, cooking, seeing the TV, and writing can seem challenging. But, many people with low vision are taking charge.
